Melvin brings a unique blend of experience in his practice of the law, given his background in both the public sector and private practice. As a result of his holistic experience and training, he is adept at handling contentious litigious matters, with particular keen interest in the fields of criminal defence and family matters. Appearing for matters at various levels of the Singapore Court structure, he has experience with civil matters, which include but are not limited to the fields of construction, contract, immigration, employment, the Protection from Harassment Act, intellectual property and commercial law.
An active volunteer at heart, Melvin assists with various pro bono initiatives of the Law Society of Singapore, which include the Criminal Legal Scheme (“CLAS”), Community Legal Clinics and Legal Aid Bureau matters. Melvin also provides representation in matters through the Legal Assistance Scheme for Capital Offences (“LASCO”).
Melvin is a professional mediator with numerous years of experience. He conducts the resolution of disputes in his capacity as an Accredited Mediator with the Singapore Mediation Centre through various schemes, which include the Small Case Commercial Mediation Scheme, mediation at the State Courts Centre for Dispute Resolution and the Small Claims Tribunal amongst others.
An enthusiast in training and coaching, Melvin lectures and conducts trainings for tertiary institutions and other organisations.
